Job Description

Capgemini is seeking an experienced Electrical Characterization Engineer to lead design verification and characterization of vehicle electronics, including Zonal and Battery ECUs.

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive design verification and characterization test plans for ECU programs across all lifecycle phases, incorporating input from reliability, design, and firmware teams.
  • Oversee the execution of characterization testing aligned with project milestones.
  • Own and maintain test coverage documentation and associated analyses.
  • Conduct bench-level characterization at IC and PCBA levels.
  • Provide early engineering feedback to design teams on decisions and testability considerations.
  • Develop and present Design for Testability (DFT) reports for ECU designs.
  • Manage characterization schedules and communicate status to upper management and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop lightweight automation scripts and instrumentation drivers to accelerate characterization testing using Python.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to flash, test, and troubleshoot firmware.
  • Lead cross-functional root-cause analysis of non-conforming test results through data-driven methods.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field, or other relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on electronics characterization and validation testing experience.
  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and digital multimeters.
  • Solid grounding in electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and communication buses.

About the Job

The Electronics Test and Validation team handles module-level validation testing for client projects, ensuring ECU electronics are designed and manufactured correctly. The team develops scalable tools, processes, hardware, and software solutions used for characterization, validation, and manufacturing. This role is an individual contributor responsible for the design verification and characterization of vehicle electronics.
