Job Description

Emerge offers an onsite, facilities focused Electrical Engineering role in Hampton, VA, with a direct-hire path that centers on safety, reliability, and efficiency across a large manufacturing operation. This position provides a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 to 115,000 per year, plus a 401K plan, medical coverage, annual pay increases of 4% or more, and clear avenues for growth and skill development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical and controls scopes for capital improvement, obsolescence, and process optimization projects
  • Coordinate full lifecycle of assigned projects: scope development, bidding, equipment selection, installation, startup, and closure
  • Provide engineering support for production and maintenance teams to resolve equipment and process issues
  • Lead PLC, HMI, and robotic programming efforts across all plant facilities and systems
  • Maintain accurate records of all automation systems and changes
  • Drive improvements to existing automation technology and infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety policies, including oversight of EHS procedures
  • Supervise contractor activity and ensure adherence to electrical codes and standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in ELECTRICAL Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with electrical systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and power distribution
  • Experience managing technical projects in a manufacturing environment
  • This role is subject to ITAR requiring U.S. person status; U.S. person is defined as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems
  • Programming experience with Allen Bradley/ControlLogix/Modicon PLCs
  • Experience with Wonderware, SQL databases, and touchscreen HMI/SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and other applicable electrical codes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Inventor
