Job Description

Orion Engineered Carbons seeks an OT Systems Engineer to strengthen DCS operations and OT security across its Lafayette, Louisiana facilities. The role centers on sustaining Emerson DeltaV DCS and Allen-Bradley PLC control logic and HMI interfaces while safeguarding OT networks throughout the plants. This on-site position carries a salary of USD 150,000 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering alongside at least three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, support, and maintain the control logic, operator interfaces, and supporting technology for the DCS (Emerson DeltaV) and PLC (Allen-Bradley) systems used in the manufacturing process.
  • Oversee all hardware and software aspects of the control systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Secure the IT technologies that sustain plant operations and contribute to OT security across the environment.
  • Troubleshoot advanced abnormal conditions in collaboration with production and maintenance teams, providing guidance to resolve issues.
  • Keep OT security architectures and related networks up to date, secure, and fit for purpose, aligned with NIST CSF 2.0 and IEC 62443 standards.
  • Update and maintain control system drawings, P&IDs, and documentation required for the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Assess new technologies and products for potential upgrades to current systems and hardware.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years configuring, troubleshooting, and operating DeltaV DCS and Allen-Bradley PLCs in a plant or refinery setting.
  • Experience as a console board operator in a process-intensive operation is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and persuasive abilities; capable of delivering results without formal authority.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time, often overnight, to plants in Texas, Ohio, and Louisiana.
  • Familiarity with pumps, dryers, ventilators, hydraulics, high-pressure injection, high-temperature applications, reactors, and other common process equipment.
