Job Description

State Farm is seeking a Software Engineer with a focus on AWS to modernize legacy systems within the Enterprise Technology Complex Claims Suite. The role emphasizes delivering scalable solutions on AWS while collaborating across teams in a hybrid work environment.

Overview

The position centers on leveraging AWS to update and optimize critical claim processing systems. It is designed as a hybrid role, requiring a balance of remote work and on-site collaboration.

Location and Hybrid Work

Location: Bloomington, IL. This is a hybrid opportunity with on-site and remote work elements. Eligible hub locations include Bloomington, IL; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ; and Dunwoody, GA. Candidates must reside near a hub location and anticipate a mix of home and office time.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 85,500 – 110,000 per year.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of software development experience
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (for example JavaScript, Angular)
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (for example Python)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and S3
  • Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and familiarity with effective branching strategies
  • Experience applying software development best practices (design principles, documentation, testing, security, DevOps)
  • Willingness to quickly learn new technical concepts and share knowledge with the team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to break down complex technical problems
  • Bachelor’s degree
