Sr. Principal Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing
Job Description
The Senior Principal Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing leads the design, integration, testing, and requirements flow-down for mission processing hardware and software in Melbourne, FL, onsite with Northrop Grumman.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design documentation, including detailed schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate mission management subsystems to meet platform objectives.
- Provide technical leadership for strategic partners and suppliers across development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support.
- Develop supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work.
- Establish supplier evaluation criteria and conduct technical evaluations, documenting results and selections.
- Review supplier development documents and participate in supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 8 years of related professional or military engineering experience; or a Master’s degree in STEM from an accredited university with 6 years of related experience.
- Experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering in Cameo or similar MBSE tools.
- Experience in supplier or subcontract management.
- Experience creating supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work.
- Experience establishing supplier evaluation criteria and performing technical evaluations with documented results and selections.
- Ability to review documents from a supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the final adjudicated government Top-Secret clearance and program access as required within a reasonable period, as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with network, commercial cloud platforms, platform infrastructures and containerized software architectures
- Understanding of Digital Engineering processes and environments
- Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation, and interface control documentation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a close-knit team
- Experience engaging directly with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly, work independently, and operate in a self-directed manner
- Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools Jira and Confluence
- Experience or certification with cloud and container management and security technologies such as VMware, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Redhat OpenShift, ECS, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, and Nomad
