Transmission Project Engineer
Job Description
Electrical Consultants, Inc. seeks a Transmission Project Engineer for an onsite role in Woods Cross, Utah, to guide transmission line projects from concept through detailed design and energization under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design lifecycle for new and upgraded transmission lines, from concept and preliminary work to final detailed design, including material procurement and construction support through energization.
- Work under the direction of a Senior Engineer or Project Manager to guide a project team in developing design calculations, detail drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for power line facilities.
- Prepare project scope documents outlining objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Conduct finite element modeling and analysis using PLS-CADD software.
- Engineer structures and foundations, ensuring structural integrity and code compliance.
- Develop loading, framing, foundation, and plan & profile drawing sets.
- Create staking sheets, sag charts, and other construction exhibits to support field execution.
- Produce material specifications and construction specifications.
- Execute additional design tasks as needed to meet project goals.
- Assist the Project Manager in planning and delivering best-in-class projects, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, mentoring design staff, ensuring quality assurance, and overseeing Design Engineers, Designers, Drafters, and support personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 6+ years of project and design engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to quality and accuracy, with a readiness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of transmission engineering principles; expertise with applicable codes, standards, and design tools; basic project management execution skills; ability to lead and direct design personnel on a project team.
- May be subject to client-mandated drug and background screening.
- Occasional travel required; must comply with ECI auto insurance carrier requirements.
