Engineer II - Electrical Fuze & Initiation Systems
Job Description
Based onsite in Tucson, AZ, this Engineer II role focuses on electrical fuze and initiation systems within Raytheon’s defense portfolio. You will contribute to the design, analysis, testing, and integration of fuze and initiation devices for missile and space platforms, collaborating closely with DoD customers and a network of suppliers. The position offers an annual salary range of USD 68,900 to 131,100 and requires a bachelor’s degree in STEM with at least two years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Apply and develop advanced technologies and principles to integrate fuze, ignition, and safety devices into missile and space system architectures.
- Support the Systems Safety Engineering Organization.
- Engage with customers to capture user needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Collaborate with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve engineering issues, advance new products, and participate in technical reviews.
- Develop initial architectures and top-level designs for fuze and initiation systems.
- Design, analyze, test, and evaluate fuze and initiation components to meet program needs.
- Prepare Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Develop Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS) and define electrical logic and interface requirements.
- Support fact-finding and contract negotiations as needed.
- Ensure technical rigor and depth across all deliverables.
- Develop and present technical fuze designs to Department of Defense safety review boards.
- Periodic travel to government and subcontractor facilities may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of two years of relevant experience; an advanced degree may substitute for two years of experience.
- At least two years of experience in electronic circuit design and analysis or fuze and initiation system design.
- Project management experience as applied to team interactions and deliverables.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the clearance.
