Job Description

Richardson Industries Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician to translate customer requirements into production-ready documentation, drawings, BOMs, and CNC programs that guide design through to manufacturing. This onsite role in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, connects engineering concepts with shop-floor execution, ensuring customer objectives are reflected in actionable documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer specifications, drawings, and project briefs to understand needs
  • Interpret design intent and convert it into practical, manufacturable solutions
  • Resolve ambiguities by coordinating with internal teams or customers to ensure precision
  • Produce detailed production drawings using CAD tools
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and cut lists
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with production capabilities
  • Create CNC programs and machine instructions for manufacturing
  • Optimize CNC programs for efficiency, material utilization, and quality
  • Assist machine operators with program-related questions or adjustments
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth project execution
  • Troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues and propose solutions
  • Support process improvements and standardize workflows
  • Ensure designs meet quality standards and satisfy customer expectations
  • Identify opportunities to boost efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline processes
  • Maintain well-organized records of drawings, revisions, and project files

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks (or similar) is preferred
  • Experience with CNC programming and manufacturing processes is preferred
  • Understanding of woodworking, casework, or furniture manufacturing is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
