FLS Production Engineer - Optical Alignment & Metrology Competency (CWW – N2)

Job Description

Overview

ASML is a global leader in lithography systems for the semiconductor industry. We are seeking a First Line Support Production Engineer for the Wilton Factory. The role focuses on rapid response to engineering disturbances and executing the steps listed in the production operator dashboard (POD) to support output. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross functional teams to resolve issues efficiently in a fast paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Spend roughly 75 percent of time in the cleanroom providing direct support to production processes and troubleshooting
  • Provide prompt troubleshooting for optical alignment and metrology issues
  • Troubleshoot module test and final qualification issues
  • Address manufacturing tooling and optical metrology equipment issues
  • Recompute the nominal optical design as needed
  • Correct optical aberrations based on diagnostics
  • Run image processing algorithms to extract nanometer scale flatness information from interferometer data
  • Analyze MATLAB scripts and plot data from databases
  • Support query code to interrogate data for manufacturing needs
  • Analyze data from image analysis and derive conclusions
  • Develop OCAPs, Fishbones and troubleshooting guidelines
  • Support diagnostics qualification and implementation for production staff
  • Evaluate and disposition failed parts with proposed solutions
  • Support development of manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions
  • Support design and document reviews for diagnostics
  • Support DOA Root Cause Analysis
  • Support cycle time and labor hours roadmaps implementation
  • Support PFMEA
  • Able to read optical, mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of Code-V and Zemax
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, LabVIEW and Python
  • Willingness to provide occasional weekend coverage
  • Potential exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents in the workplace
  • Work in a cleanroom environment with full gowning (full body coveralls, hood, CR safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves and safety glasses) and adherence to ISO 9000/14000 standards
  • Operate around overhead cranes, forklifts and motorized pallet movers
  • Work around lasers, ladders, platforms, and chemicals

Education and Experience

Education

Bachelor of Science in Optical Engineering or other Engineering or Science disciplines with a background in Optics

Experience

  • 0+ years of engineering experience with a Bachelor of Science in Optical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of diverse optical metrology setups: Interferometers, Shack-Hartmann sensor, polarimetry/ellipsometry and optical alignment
  • Working knowledge of geometric optics, wave optics, Gaussian propagation, and aberration theory
  • Working knowledge in image, signal and data processing algorithms, statistics and software development
  • Working knowledge with epoxy application in opto-mechanical designs
  • Working knowledge with optical assembly, alignment, test equipment and tools
  • Working knowledge in lasers, polarization, detectors, electro-optical devices and opto-mechanical constructions
  • Experience in a production environment with high tech products and complex production processes
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of Optical-Electrical sensors is a plus
  • Experience in technical Production Engineering and quality methodologies such as statistical process control and FMEA is a plus
  • Working knowledge of NX, Teamcenter and SAP is a plus

Work Environment and Schedule

Work Schedule: A Compressed Work Week Nights 2 (CWW N2) schedule from 6 pm to 6 am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday.

  • This position requires access to controlled technology as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
