RF Solutions Engineer
Job Description
Based in Garland, Texas, the RF Solutions Engineer will operate on-site with BearCom to deliver end-to-end RF and systems solutions across multiple technology domains, including RF, BDA/DAS, LMR, PLTE, Video, and Microwave. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of RF design or engineering experience, with a compensation range of USD 89,582 to 117,665 per year.
This position emphasizes consulting, engineering excellence, and project delivery, often on large-scale deployments that require cross-functional collaboration with sales and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide systems solutions consulting, engineering, and project delivery with expertise in at least two of these areas: Radio; BDA/DAS; LMR; PLTE; Video; Microwave
- Develop large-scale designs for multi-technology solutions on projects exceeding $250K
- Deliver highly technical business presentations to customers
- Gather information, research vendor technologies, and perform systems integration to create robust solutions
- Design RF systems and conduct RF propagation analyses
- Prepare and maintain project documents throughout the lifecycle, including project plans, action logs, risk and issue registers, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and invoicing milestones
- Create project charts, conceptual and detailed designs, network diagrams, floor plans, rack layouts, bills of materials, and other design documents
- Utilize site survey results to define system requirements, including RF data collection
- Model indoor propagation and capacity to determine antenna placements and equipment needs
- Apply requirements for multiple operating systems and develop BOMs
- Review and approve final design construction documents
- Design and integrate communications systems to meet customers' business requirements
- Produce consolidated, user-friendly documentation including prediction models and BOMs using standard office tools
- Provide as-built design details after coverage tests are completed
- Collaborate with sales executives, sales engineers, and other systems engineers
- Mentor junior designers and engineers and cross-train colleagues
- Ensure projects run on time, within budget, and meet specifications and quality standards
- Manage customer relationships and maintain project confidence
- Interface with the sales team on the technical design of projects involving two-way radio, DAS BDA, Video, and LTE networks
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Wireless or related field, or PE certification, with 5 years of relevant RF design/engineering experience
- Current iBwave Level 2 Certification
- Knowledge of electricity, electronics, telecommunications, radio communications, networking, video, and wireless principles
- Ability to investigate complex problems and implement improvements with cross-functional teams
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
- Experience with RF system design and implementation, including antennas and filtering
- Experience with systems solutions consulting, engineering practices, processes, and project delivery
- Familiarity with the general construction industry and practices
- Familiarity with the life cycle of a project and MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, Visio)
- Ability to read, interpret, explain, and act on technical documents and contracts
- Commitment to policies and ethical responsibilities, including confidentiality and conflicts of interest
- Ability to work under time pressures and manage multiple deadlines
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed
- Proficiency with office equipment and a computer-based work environment
- Ability to work with high visual acuity and attention to detail, with capability to handle equipment up to 25 pounds
- Travel up to 10% as needed
- Drug screenings and background checks may be required
