Based in Beaverton, Oregon and onsite, the Senior OSP Engineer leads the planning and execution of outside plant projects for Ziply Fiber. As the subject matter expert for all technical aspects of the OSP network, this role coordinates budgeting, scheduling, growth initiatives, and permitting while serving as the primary liaison among Ziply Fiber departments and vendor resources. The position offers a salary range of USD 88,861 to USD 113,035 per year and requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience with at least three years in telecommunications outside plant work.
Responsibilities
- Support leadership in reporting and escalation processes.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to internal FTEs and external vendors.
- Proactively review outside plant facilities to identify upgrades and enhancements.
- Communicate with state, county, city, and national entities regarding planned growth and changes.
- Coordinate with utilities for project design and construction to utilize joint trench.
- Apply for all required permits (State, DNR, City, County, Townships).
- Maintain and review rights-of-way and easements for releases.
- Collaborate with peers and departments to ensure proper project planning.
- Maintain accurate cable records and update them according to As-Builts.
- Attend pre-construction meetings for project designs.
- Prepare cost estimates for BDTs.
- Support sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory functions as needed.
- Perform other duties to support the business and evolving organization.
- Mentor and train lower-tier engineers to enhance their technical capabilities.
- Work regular business hours in Pacific Standard Time and be available for on-call, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience, or a minimum of three years’ outside plant experience.
- Minimum of three years of telecommunications outside plant construction project management experience and inventory management experience.
- Minimum of three years of ROW, private easement, and permitting experience with local, state, and federal entities.
- Knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
