Job Description

The Systems Group is seeking a Design Engineer who can operate effectively in Korean and English, based onsite in Little Rock, Arkansas. This role centers on creating robust 3D designs, collaborating with multiple project teams, and delivering technical support to project engineers and customers, with a potential transition into field duties as a Bilingual Field Engineer.

Overview

As a Design Engineer, you will convert sketches and data into detailed 3D models, visualize concepts from similar existing designs, and manage several projects simultaneously with minimal supervision. The position requires occasional travel and the ability to apply design criteria derived from customer data and the scope of each project to ensure sound engineering outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D models from sketches and data provided
  • Visualize, conceptualize, and formulate a 3D design from existing references
  • Learn quickly and work on multiple projects; travel may be required
  • Exercise independent judgment using correct design criteria based on customer data and project scope
  • Research new products and technologies to support our applications
  • Review customer drawings and other discipline drawings for interferences and design requirements
  • Provide technical support for project engineers and managers, client inquiries, and fabrication requests
  • Coordinate with Systems Group members and contractors across multiple software platforms
  • Communicate effectively with the project engineer, project manager, and customer representatives to identify design requirements
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of equipment and piping designs
  • Visit job sites to take measurements for equipment design, including 3D laser scanning
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, or other 3D software
  • Develop 3D simulations of equipment and piping movements

Requirements

  • Fluent in Korean
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with multiple disciplines
  • Solid mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of electric arc steelmaking is a plus
  • Knowledge of metal plate fabrication and welding is preferred
  • Knowledge of piping design and components is preferred
  • Knowledge of heat transfer and fluid dynamics is required
  • Knowledge of integrating laser scan point cloud data into 3D modeling software is a plus
  • Experience with FEA and CFD is a plus
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Structural
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
