Job Description

Competitive, on-site engineering role in Hampton, VA offering a full-time position with a salary range of USD 65,000 to 80,000 per year. You’ll work directly with a NASA Langley Research Center program under the RSES contract, performing Digital Image Correlation (DIC) measurements and system calibration in a collaborative, technically focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide digital image correlation measurements for material and structural testing using VIC3D software from Correlated Solutions, Inc.
  • Collaborate with Lead Test Engineers to define data acquisition requirements and design the DIC camera setup for tests.
  • Calibrate the DIC system prior to test initiation.
  • Capture and monitor DIC images during testing to support accurate results.
  • Notify the Lead Test Engineer promptly of any anomalies observed during testing.
  • Process DIC results within 24 hours after test completion.
  • Prepare and present results in spreadsheet, presentation, or written formats if requested by the Lead Test Engineer.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Current U.S. Driver’s License with a Real ID compliant status is required for entry on site.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; Mechanical, Aerospace, or Engineering Mechanics are preferred.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical testing and fundamental mechanics concepts (stress, strain, boundary conditions, etc.).
  • Experience with DIC software setup, optimization (VIC3D), data acquisition, and processing is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required; Python experience is preferred.

Attendance

On-site attendance is mandatory (100%). Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required, typically less than 20% of assignments.
