Principal Electrical Engineer 3 – Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
Job Description
This role focuses on the design, test, and ongoing sustainment of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and related test support hardware for launch vehicles, with collaboration across the system electrical engineering team. The position is based onsite in Chandler, AZ.
Responsibilities
- Apply and reference the organization’s electrical engineering standards across projects.
- Utilize broad technical knowledge and collaborate with related disciplines to support integrated solutions.
- Prepare and present electrical engineering materials for Requirements and Design Reviews.
- With limited guidance, assess basic design concepts for moderately complex problems.
- Adapt or improve heritage features from prior successful designs using established electrical engineering principles.
- Participate actively in team discussions and support group decisions and objectives.
- Deliver quality internal and external customer service as a priority.
- Continuously seek information to meet customer needs and share relevant findings with stakeholders.
- Maintain disciplined escalation when necessary to address issues.
- Derive requirements from multiple sources, including documentation and design meetings.
- Evaluate, under supervision, uncertainty and risk related to requirements and designs.
- Contribute to trade studies for both internal projects and procured equipment.
- Place safety as the top priority in all aspects of the role.
- Conduct formal peer reviews of straightforward engineering designs or analyses for less experienced engineers.
- Execute day-to-day activities with minimal oversight from senior engineers.
- collaborate with a system electrical engineering team to analyze, design, and test complex system-level designs focused on EGSE and test support equipment for launch vehicles.
Requirements
- Five years of experience with a Bachelor’s in Engineering or three years with a Master’s in Engineering.
- Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance at the time of application.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Proficient knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
- Design, test, or integration experience with EGSE or similar equipment.
- Experience applying processes for operating EGSE in secure environments.

Salary Range
Primary level salary range: USD 98,400.00 – 147,600.00 per year
Job Duties
Based on specific objectives, collaborate with a system electrical engineering team to perform analysis, design, and test of complex system-level designs with a focus on electrical ground support equipment and test support equipment for launch vehicles.
Desired Experience
- Design, test, and or integration and deployment of electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) or test support equipment (TSE)
- Design, test, programming, and or integration and deployment of automated test equipment (ATE)
- Testing of avionics, electronic components, or electrical systems using purpose designed test equipment
- Burndown of nonconformances and or root cause failure analysis of electronic systems
- Release of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures
- Leading teams or personnel in the execution of test procedures
- Leading teams or personnel in the design of electronic equipment
- Management or tracking of projects through a product life cycle
- Support of manufacturing engineering during the production of test equipment products
- Experience with telemetry systems including decoms and Chapter 10 recorders
- Development or support of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) or other integrations labs
- Problem solving for schedule, cost, resource, and other project challenges
- Mentoring and cross-training team members across a diverse set of technologies and equipment architectures
- Knowledgeable with basic test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, and electronic loads
- Broad or high-level circuit design and analysis

- CompTIA Security+ or similar certifications
- Experience with networks, Windows systems, and RHEL or other Linux distributions
