Job Description

STARTECX Inc is seeking a Senior PLC Control Engineer for an onsite role in Fremont, California. The position offers a salary range of $90,000 to $110,000 per year and a benefits package that includes 401(k) matching, dental, health, and vision insurance, plus paid time off. This role centers on designing, developing, and maintaining industrial automation systems, with emphasis on PLC programming and HMI development, while supporting electrical and control system projects for facilities or external clients.

You will work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to deliver integrated systems, ensuring safety, quality, and timely project delivery. Responsibilities include programming PLCs across multiple platforms, configuring HMI/SCADA solutions, building electrical schematics and control panel layouts, and supporting installation and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and write PLC code using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Mitsubishi, or Omron
  • Configure and integrate HMI/SCADA systems
  • Create electrical schematics and control panel layouts using CAD software
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of control systems
  • Perform I/O checks, safety validations, and system testing
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, sensors, drives, and other automation equipment
  • Provide technical support for operations and maintenance teams
  • Maintain project documentation including wiring diagrams, manuals, and system backups
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to deliver integrated systems
  • Support project timelines, cost estimates, and status reporting

Requirements

  • Fluent English communication (and writing) is a must
  • Fluent Mandarin
  • Proficiency with Mitsubishi PLC control systems is required
  • Experience with integration CCD vision and MES/Shopflow control is required
  • Experience with integration of Epson and Nachi 4-axis or 6-axis robots is a strong plus
  • Direct experience designing and deploying machines with more than 10 axes/actuators in motion systems is a strong plus
  • Ability to design electrical control diagrams and SOP documentation for machines
  • Engineering degree (bachelor or master) in automation control, mechatronics, or electrical engineering is required; diploma and academic project may be requested to verify
  • Experience with PCBA pick-and-place processes
  • Experience with film PnP and lamination processes
  • Experience with PCBA assembly and press control processes
  • Experience with screw torquing process control
  • Experience with laser welding processes
  • Experience with air leak test processes
