Responsibilities

  • Support the power electrical team to analyze systems, build software models, and prepare reports for projects across commercial, industrial, and generation sectors.
  • Perform Load Flow and Reactive Power analyses.
  • Conduct arc flash, short-circuit, and coordination studies using ETAP or other steady-state power system tools.
  • Run transient studies with PSS/E and PSCAD.
  • Carry out harmonic analyses using ETAP, PSCAD, or related transient software.
  • Collaborate with the electrical team to develop calculations and drawings for various project types.
  • Continuously expand knowledge in the power and energy industries.
  • Assist with project design, specifications, and plans support.
  • Review work to ensure it meets Kimley-Horn quality standards.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in an engineering firm or EPC.
  • Experience with PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, WinIGS, or CDEGS is preferred.
  • Understanding of NEC 2020 and IEEE standards or willingness to learn, with interest in emerging technologies.
  • General understanding of engineering and energy systems.
  • Foundational knowledge of load flow, protection coordination, short circuit, and arc flash study methodologies.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for CAD tasks.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project teams concurrently and work independently or within a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • PE certification or path toward licensure is preferred.
